Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood in The West Island of Montreal is one of those "sleepy" location. The West Island has a lot of different communities. Many who've never heard of it often mistake it for a separate island facing west. Many times, it is credited as being the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay there was short. Brugel grew to be a young woman within Courtice Ontario, just outside Oshawa. Her initial ambition was to be an actor, however, after a rapid expansion, she and her partner were no longer able to dance with her. According to an article by Toronto Star, she revealed that she wore heels and was six feet and one inch tall. When I outgrew my male partners I stopped. The Brugel is one of the former dancers who turned into acting. Her high school teacher school was what pushed her to take the next step. She was recommended by a teacher getting a part in the the school's annual show. After a few auditions the role, she was chosen as the leading lady in Anne of Green Gables. After receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Over the past 20 years since Brugel has been offered roles in more than 60 productions across small and big screens drawing the most interest when she was offered the character in the role of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian actor on the show in Season 1 and was only seen on occasion.
